For sporadic speed measurement on a rotating shaft, mobile speed measuring devices are used. The HT-5500 device includes both: For contact measurement, direct mechanical contact to the contact tip of the encoder is required. 

For non-contact, optical measurement, reflective marks are bonded to the rotating shaft. 

The device allows measurements from 6...99999 rpm.
